Follow 'MSCL' Book Progress on Facebook

After a little soul-searching I've decided it's time to admit it – I simply don't have the bandwidth to keep up a blog for So Beautiful it Hurts: The Making of My So-Called Life. That said, you will find book updates and frequent deep dives into every episode on the book's Facebook page. (There's even an invitation-only Facebook Group for die-hard MSCL fans.)

Over the last couple of years I've been amazed and deeply grateful to the lovers of MSCL who've shared so much of themselves on that page as we've picked apart each episode together. Not surprisingly, more than a few of those fan insights have made it into the book.

'Book, Book, Book: Where ARE You With this Book, Anyway?'

"Perpetually behind schedule" is the short answer – the natural outcome of trying to write a book between holding down a dayjob and tackling the other crises and demands that attend all our lives.

More specifically, I'm starting to write the chapter about Ep. 16 "Resolutions" this morning, which means another 3 episodes to tackle after this one.

Once the episode chapters are wrapped up, I'll be going in to add little bits and bobs, trimming quite a lot, and then sending the rough draft to those whom I've interviewed for their thoughts. If all goes well (but when does all go well?), it will go to the publisher sometime in August.

To be completely honest, this is a super-tight deadline and I think I have a 50-50 chance of making it.

If I don't, the book will have to wait until August 2025, which I'd really like to avoid. Still, if the last year has taught me anything, it's that you can't plan for the unexpected.

So if you're curious about the book and would like to keep an interested-but-cautious eye on the whole endeavor, please head on over to the Facebook page and Follow it, Like it, or whatever it is you kids do these days. Go now. Go, Aaron
