It's impossible to overstate just how phenomenal Claire Danes was, not just to us viewers at home, but to the people who worked alongside her on My So-Called Life. I love the way Bess Armstrong has of giving us a little peek into that world below:
"You start with this wonderful script. You start with wonderful, intelligent producers, and then the miracle happens that in a nationwide search, they unearth this unknown child named Claire Danes. For all of us there was this sense of 'Well OK, why don’t I just quit now.' I think this was right before her 14th birthday when we sat down for the first table read. When I saw her I thought ‘Isn’t that cute, she’s coloring.’ And then I went to look at what she was doing and she wasn’t coloring, she was doing some absolutely gorgeous, intricate drawing – very sophisticated."
